The Super Big Micro Show: Nucleus

Back in December the Microgallery took it's first foray into the public eye with the Super Big Micro Show hosted by Gallery Nucleus! All of us here at Disney, as well as our friends at Dreamworks and Pixar produced an inspiring collection of tiny works that filled the gallery's upstairs area.

This is only a fraction of the amazing work produced and hung on the walls!
The gallery got the lovely Janet Klein and her parlor boys to provide live music throughout the evening. Their jazzy tunes really helped make it a fun event!

There was a great turnout, and it was delightful to see that we could make people want cram into a larger space just as tight as we could a small space :)

The pieces can (at the time of writing this) be viewed in their entirety on the Nucleus website HERE. (The un-sold pieces are, unfortunately, no longer for sale through Nucleus)

Everyone involved had a really fun time putting on this show. Perhaps there are more public shows in our future? But for now, it's back to our micro space.

Our First Show

Our very first show! For the theme, we picked a subject near and dear to our hearts:
Alcohol.
Every piece from this show sold, as would become a trend for future shows :)

Setting up the gallery:

The first piece is hung!

No peaking!

People start to gather. Tia likes what she sees!

What's she looking at?

Lots of people clambering to fit into a very tiny space!

All proceeds from this show went to buy a mini-bar! It still stands, serving all who come to her without prejudice :)

Welcome!

Welcome to the official blog of the Micro Gallery! Whether you're already familiar with our antics or have no idea what this is all about we hope you'll check back from time to time to keep up with us.

The gallery was started by Disney artists seeking a creative outlet.
Working in a studio environment it's easy to forget to do art for ourselves. We often find ourselves wondering what the person who sits five feet away from us every day draws in their spare time as well... or at least, what they would be drawing if they weren't as tired at the end of the day as we are.
Something had to be done.

Due to lack of proper wall space, this after-hours project started out on a small scale.
Micro paintings in a micro-space!
Interest in the gallery show sparked fast. Only two rules were established:
1. Artwork had to be small
2. No digital art allowed! We all needed a forced break from staring at a screen all day.

While the scale remains small, our scope is slowly growing, and our friends within and without Disney studios have taken interest and inspiration from the work that we ourselves find inspiring and rewarding.

Wow. That seems like a mouthful. More images and a few less words to follow.
Check back soon, and pardon our dust while we get this up and running :)
